The day came when I popped the big question...
The question that intertwined both our lives...
The question that brought us under one roof...
The question that forever changed our lives...
And this was how it went on that beautiful Saturday evening...
As I waited outside her house all dressed in my best suit...
I was praying with all my heart that things would go smoothly...
For tonight was THE night...
The night that would bring about a great change...
Not just for the two of us...
But both our families as well...
In one hand I held a bouquet of her favorite flowers...
Pink stargazer lilies accompanied with red roses awaited to be received by her...
And in the other...
A custom handmade jewelry set that I crafted just for her...
It was all nicely wrapped up in a box waiting to be worn by my fair maiden...
This was specially made to compliment the blue dress she bought the other day...
It is the only one of its kind in the world...
The doors of her house soon opened...
And there she was...
All dressed up looking beautiful...
She walked down her front porch with a bright smile on her face...
The very same smile that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside...
We greeted each other with a hug and a kiss...
I then proceeded to give her the bouquet and the jewelry set...
Her face glistened with happiness as she received them from me...
And with a grateful heart she said,
"I love you hun!"
After helping her put on the necklace...
We got into the car and off we went to the nearby beach for our private dinner...
All the food had already been pre-ordered and was served as soon as we got there...
We talked as we normally would while dining...
There was not one moment of silence...
Champagne was served as soon as we finished our meals...

As we were sipping away on our glasses of champagne...
A violinist then came and played her favorite song...
"Home" was its title...

I stood up from my seat and walked over to her side...
Extending my hand I asked,
"Excuse me beautiful. May I have this dance?"
Placing her soft, gentle hand in mine...
We danced the slow dance...
How I wished the song never had an ending...
The moment for me to pop the big question drew closer as time passed...
I proceeded to invite her to take a stroll along the beach that had been lit with candles...
We walked hand-in-hand, enjoying one another's company...
As we continued to walk down the beach...
I looked up into the night sky...
And pretending like there was one I exclaimed,
"Look! A shooting star!"
I threw my hand out...
As if to catch the "shooting star"...
The "shooting star" represented my wish to be with her in holy matrimony...
And there in my finger tips I held the ring...

On bended knees I went...
Tears started to well up in her eyes...
I recited a poem...
One that was simple yet so profound...
With my eyes transfixed on her eyes...
I said,
"Tonight I come before you with a heart so true,
To proclaim my love for you.
You fill my heart with abundant joy,
Even in the simplest way.
You had made living this life so worthwhile,
Even when things seemed so dull.
You showered me with love,
That felt like from heaven above.
There is nothing more that I could ask for,
Than to spend eternity with someone worth dying for.
So this I ask of you,
Will you be that someone?
For better or worse?
Miss Jamie Chan Kah Yin...
Will you marry me?"
All choked up with tears of joy...
Without hesitation she replied...
"Yes, I will!"
Rising to my feet once again...
I placed the ring in her finger...
And we sealed it with a kiss...

From that moment on...
Things changed...
They weren't the same as before...
For I was happily married to the woman that I love...
A new chapter began in both our lives...
And it was all made possible by one simple question...
"Will you marry me?"

I actually intend to do this when I decide to propose to my significant other...
Whoever she may be...
Inspiration for this short story came from a post that Melissa wrote on her blog...
Everything written here is an original by me...
Even the poem...
I feel so proud of myself~
Please ignore the girl's name...
It was just something I came up with...
The song that I mentioned in the story is the song that plays whenever you enter my blog...
(Not the Colbie Calliat song... I've already removed that by the way)
This version of "Home" was sung by Blake Shelton...
Michael Buble also sang this song...
Do leave a comment about your thoughts on this post...
And yes...
I'm still in the lovey-dovey mood~
